Desperate maneuvers

Lets start with some common sense: politicians are not dumb, so when they do something that seems self-defeating it is probably due to necessity.

Since politics have become crazy in the last two decades, lets try to understand the necessities behind.

Years ago, Trump’s move into politics with a populist discourse about MAGA and drain the swamp appeared bizarre. It seemed that the GOP had suddenly gone crazy.

Fortunately he won elections and we could ser him star some completely new fights. Denouncing deep state intrigues (FBI…), main Media and Big Tech ideological alignment that cancelled in fact pluralism, the double game of France and Germany, supposed allies…

I guess that made clear what was the necessity for Trump. It is probably not possible to fight established powers with established politicians. Trump considered it was necessary to break the statu quo and drastically take a turn of the wheel. A non-continuous president was needed, who would break the chains that immobilized the US.

During the Trumps four years mandate things started to change clearly in international politics: reaction at last against China, denounce of German collaboration with Russia, stabilization of the Middle East by reining in Iran and bringing Arab countries closer to Israel, clear support to democracy in Latin America instead of approaching Cuba or Venezuela dictatorships, US border defense…

But no so many changes were seen in deep state and Media & Big Tech. Some things were done but clearly not enough. Intrigues and lack of pluralism still predominate during Trump’s turn. We just have to follow Musk discloses to see it.

The next bizarre situation appeared with the 2020 elections and Trump’s fraud complaint. It is common known that this kind of complaints are almost imposible to be won, you need to have the corps (proof that the election result changed), the smoking gun (fraud evidences) and the villain (author of the fraud). And as we’ve seen, the investigations are not even started since those who must carry them out are usually the ones suspected of the fraud.

Trump not only insistently denounced fraud but also pushed for an investigation to the point of organizing a demonstration in front of the Capitol on January 6. Something with as much risk that in fact was turned against him. Why would someone start something with so much risk and little expectation of success? It only occurs to me that he considers it essential, that he sees no way out of the trap for the US as long as it is viable to adjust the electoral result through fraud.

Moreover, we are seeing now the same situation in Arizona midterms. Kari Lake and Abe Hamadeh are also complaining and appealing. Are they crazy or dumb? It does not seem very likely.

It must be that the fight for fair and reliable elections is essential. A desperate fight? Maybe, but indispensable to still have chances against so many big enemies.

Last but also bizarre, it’s Musk’s purchase of Twitter. And the revelation of the innumerable intrigues recorded there.

It’s absurd as a business. Once again it does not seem reasonable for a business man to dedicate himself to bother so many such great powers.

Meaningless unless he thought it was essential for some reason. Maybe he just talked plain and his words clarify it: “Free speech is essential to a functioning democracy”.

Maybe Trump, Lake and Musk are not dumb nor manipulators who release misleading advertising messages. Perhaps they are simply saying what they are really after. And risky, maybe even desperate, maneuvers are worth trying for them. Sometimes, some people, like Churchill in the past, do not manipulate or play short-term tactics, they just really fight for the freedoms system.

  3. Or maybe, just maybe, when during the primaries, he told Jeb Bush he had 200 generals behind him, he meant it! Maybe, just maybe, these absurdities needed to be exposed, and continue to be today…

    I wonder.
